Staff updates from The Richmonder

Thanks for making The Richmonder a part of your day. Because of you, as we mark our 6-month anniversary, we are well positioned to continue our work connecting the community through quality journalism.

This week we welcomed Victoria A. Ifatusin to our reporting team. Victoria joins us from Asheville, where she covered a weekslong water crisis there as a result of Hurricane Helene. She should feel right at home in Richmond.

On the development side, we are pleased to welcome Beth Weisbrod into our newly created part-time Business Development position. Beth is best known for her work spearheading the construction of the Virginia Capital Trail, and most recently spent time with Chamber RVA.

We also want to bid a fond farewell to David Poole, whose knowledge of nonprofit fundraising has been crucial to our successful launch in September and early growth. David never intended to stay forever. He is leaving to focus on the marketing of his forthcoming book about the history of the Virginia Public Access Project.

Ifatusin, Weisbrod and Poole

We have begun the search for a full-time development director. If you know somebody who may be interested, the job posting is available here.

We are also pleased to announce that we will be hosting an internship program for student journalists this summer. Details on applying for that can be found here.

As we grow, please continue to let us know how we can best serve you through our newsletter, website and events.

Sincerely,

Michael Phillips

P.S. — All of this is possible because of our donors. We are closing in on 1,000 individuals and organizations in the community who support unbiased reporting that seeks to elevate the community conversation. We'd love for you to join us with a contribution of $9.99 monthly or $115 annually.
